VISION
_About Us
Stone’s Throw Design Inc. was founded by licensed architect, Terrell Wong in 1998. Sustainable design has been at the forefront of our practice since it began. It’s not a trend to us…it’s our way of life. So when the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority and the Design Exchange put forth the call to architects and designers to create an Archetype for Sustainable Housing, we rose to the challenge! Partnering with Anne Stevens of FORT Architect Inc. and an exemplary team of experts, the design was entered under the name Building Blocks and provides a model for the best in affordable, sustainable housing. Two model homes based on the design were built at the Kortright Conservation Area in Vaughan. These homes are open for tours.
Fully Integrated Design Process
Early in the design process, we bring to the table a core team of experts in sustainable residential design and construction to discuss the full scope of the project. This design charette with the owners helps to flush out many of the design ideas and considerations early on. Collaboration is the key to a smooth design and build process.
Embrace the Sun
By exploiting the maximum solar potential of your site you can significantly reduce the heating and cooling costs of running your home. The savings can then go toward things that are much more important to you than your furnace!
Right Sized
Many believe that they need an addition when in reality the existing space is just poorly organized. Investing in your existing structure can reap many benefits. The least of which, is fixing the hidden problems which are rampant in older homes. It’s much more cost effective to improve what you have than to tack on an addition to the back of something that currently does not work.
Comfortable
Stone’s Throw Design uses building science to increase the overall comfort and durability of your home. We look at the exterior walls to determine the best construction methodologies to meet both the aesthetic and the thermal requirements of the design.
Beautiful
We take pride in constructing high-end homes with all the amenities. Sustainable design doesn’t mean compromise.
